2008 GREAT NEW ENGLAND AIR SHOW FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q - WHAT TIME DO THE GATES OPEN?
A – 8:00 AM and the flightline at 8:30 AM.

Q - IS THERE A PROVISION FOR PRIVATELY OWNED AIRCRAFT TO PARK?
A – All civilian aircraft would need to coordinate with Westover Metropolitan Airport.

Q - WHAT TIME DOES THE SHOW START?
A – 9:00 AM

Q - CAN YOU BRING LAWNCHAIRS?
A- Lawn chairs and blankets are allowed but no lounge chairs

Q - IS THERE A CHARGE FOR ADMISSION/PARKING?
A - There is no charge for admission or parking

Q – Which day will the Thunderbirds perform?
A - The Thunderbirds will be the feature act on both Saturday and Sunday

Q - IS THERE A PROVISION TO PARK RVS?
A – There is limited parking for RV’s operated by veterans. Reservations may be made by calling (413) 557- 2192 after August 1, 2008. However, all vehicles are subject to search.

Q - Can I park an RV in the parking areas?
A –.Yes but all vehicles are subject to search.

Q – IS THERE PARKING FOR BUSES AVAILABLE?
A - Yes

Q. - IS THERE A PROVISION FOR PRIVATELY OWNED AIRCRAFT TO PARK?

Q - Will there be a shuttle from the parking areas?
A – Yes

Q - Can I leave and re-enter the Air Show?
A – Yes

Q - Are coolers permitted?
A – Sorry, coolers are not permitted

Q - Are cameras and video recorders allowed?
A – Yes

Q - Can I bring an umbrella?
A - Small umbrellas are permitted.

Q - Do you have any bleacher seating?
A – Bleacher seating is not available

Q - Can you give me a schedule of acts?
A - A tentative schedule will be published shortly before the show. However, the schedule is subject to change

Q - What is a static display?
A – A static display is an aircraft that is on display inside the spectator
area. It is not an aircraft that is flying but is available for photos

Q - Is there shade?
A – There is some shade available in the Base hanger and under the wings of some of the larger aircraft

Q - Are pets allowed?
A – Sorry, Pets are not allowed, except for service animals (seeing eye dogs, etc.)

Q – How does one obtain information on becoming a sponsor?
A – Sponsorship inquiries should be directed to df22v@comcast.net

Q - CAN A COMPANY BUY VIP TICKETS WITHOUT BEING A SPONSOR?
A – No. A company must be a contributor to be able to purchase additional tickets

Q - HOW DOES A VENDOR RECEIVE PERMISSION TO SELL FOOD/WARES?
A – All requests for information on becoming a vendor or providing services should be directed to: Mr. Christopher Menard at (413) 557- 1110 x 2899 or email Christophermenard@westover.af.mil

Q – I understand there will be a kick off breakfast. When and where is the breakfast and how does a person purchase tickets?
A – The breakfast will be held on Friday, September 5th at Westover ARB. Tickets are $25.00 and may be purchased by making checks payable to: Galaxy Community Council Breakfast, Westover ARB, P.O. Box 498, Chicopee, MA 01021

Q - Will the show be televised?
A – Current plans are for the show to be recorded for showing at a later date

Q - How do I get a media pass for the show?
A – Request, in writing, for a media pass. The request should include a photo
copy of your press credentials and the date(s) you will be attending. Send requests to the Westover Public Affairs office at Westover ARB, Chicopee, MA 01022:

Q - What happens if it rains?
A – In the event of rain some flying demonstrations may have to be cancelled. However, unless the weather poses a serious threat to the safety of the visitors and participants the show will proceed as scheduled.

Q - Where can I stay overnight?
A – There are numerous motels and hotels in the area. However, it is suggested that visitors make reservations as early as possible. The Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau at www.valleyvisitor.com will assist you in finding lodging..

Q - Can I bring food?
A – Food can be brought onto the base. However, it must be wrapped in clear paper and not in a cooler.

Q - Can I bring a frozen drink on base?
A – Yes, you can bring in non-alcoholic beverages in plastic containers that have been frozen.

Q - Why can't I bring ice onto the base?
A – Loose ice is prohibited because it is difficult to search. Ice packs are permitted.

Approved Items:

  • Small purses or fanny packs

  • Cameras and/or camcorders with “small” camera bags

  • Diaper bags

  • Baby strollers

  • “Small” lawn chairs only (no lounger chairs)

  • Wheelchairs, canes, guide/working dogs to assist disabled individuals

  • Water in clear plastic bottles only (all other liquids are prohibited)
